A fun mystery progressive dinner and book exchange for Christmas

We had a nice time visiting DeDe's, Renae's and Dulsanna's homes. Visiting, discussing the book and dining we topped off with our mystery book exchange. What will we dream up in 2017? Hmmm...Maybe a megamovie night reviewing movies based on books we will read?? Start the brainstorming. And Merry Christmas to all!

p.s. Thanks for the photo DeDe. I so wish I would have take one at each house!

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler, and our September assignment

DeDe hosted the August book group, and made it as fun as she is! We were treated to ropes and chocolate for the sea book, and beautiful flowers from her garden. Her southern hospitality included the very best peach cobbler ever. Recipe shared below.

For the September meeting at Amanda's bring 10 book titles for 2017 and we'll all compare and decide. We will look forward to more great discussions in the future!

Ingredients:
8 fresh peaches - peeled, pitted and sliced into thin wedges
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small pieces
1/4 cup boiling water

MIX TOGETHER:
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F
In a large bowl, combine peaches, 1/4 cup white sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss to coat evenly, and pour into a 2 quart baking dish. Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine flour, 1/4 cup white sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Blend in butter with your fingertips, or a pastry blender, until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in water until just combined.
Remove peaches from oven, and drop spoonfuls of topping over them. Sprinkle entire cobbler with the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Bake until topping is golden, about 30 minutes.

Book suggestion

I just read The Secret Daughter of the Tsar by Jennifer Laam and thought it would be a good book club book...recommended by Aubrey Gokey on Facebook.
